Home made Shrimp Etoufette
Shrimp Etouffee
• 1lb large uncooked shrimp ( peeled and deveined)
• 1 med vine tomato ( chopped)
• 3 sprigs fresh thyme
• 1 stalk celery ( chopped)
• ½ of red and green bell pepper ( thinly sliced)
• 1 tsp fresh minced garlic
• 1 small to medium onion sliced
• Salt n pepper to taste
• 1 tsp old bay seasoning( divided ½ n ½)
• 1 tsp Creole seasoning ( divided ½ n ½)
• 1 tsp garlic powder preferably roasted ( divided ½ n ½)
• 1 tsp red pepper flakes ( divided ½ n ½)
• 1tbsp all purpose flour
• 1 cup chicken broth
• ¾ cup half n half
• Juice of ½ lemon
• Tbsp olive oil
• ½ stick of butter

Season shrimp with salt n pepper, ½ Tsp of old bay seasoning, creole seasoning, garlic powder and red pepper flakes. Heat olive oil over medium heat, melt butter, When butter is melted and hot, brown each shrimp, about a minute on each side. Set aside on a plate. Then in same pot, add onions and garlic, sauté till soften, add flour and stir continuously about 3-4 minutes, until flour is cooked, then add tomatoes, bell peppers and celery , cover and sauté about 2 minutes, then add chicken broth and half and half, cover and bring to a low boil, about 6 minutes add remaining dry seasoning and thyme and green onions. Turn off the heat, and then add brown shrimp back in, stir really well to combine everything. The heat will finish cooking the shrimp.
